A Change?

There is a change occurring in US Diving. That change was discussed in the new President's last message on the internet. That change results in a smaller coverage of the offered insurance. The prices for the original policy were about to skyrocket like other types of similar insurance. What you will get as a coach is $1 million coverage. That's down from the original $4 million. With the decrease in coverage, there is a cut in what's covered such as, when driving to and from meets and practices.

The changes reflect what is happening in our economy. It appears that the decrease in coverage equals 75%. Are you going to see a decrease of 75% when you pay your membership fees? If history has any bearing on what might occur in the future, you will not see any decrease in your membership fees. If any change occurs, you may see an increase in fees. Rising expenses and the decline in membership would cause the increase. US Diving fees are becoming too expensive for the average coach that tries to operate a program. The reason for this change seems to indicate that the leadership doesn't want to keep dipping into the foundation money. However they don't mind dipping into the members' pockets.

Other things on a list of priorities still include hiring a CEO to run US Diving. Coaches fear that they will lose input if a CEO takes over. Unfortunately nobody sees Tom Gompf as the non-titled CEO. He has been running the show for years and has been grooming his replacement for the last few years. The LRP has not disappeared from the list either. It still has its supporters in these meetings. Also there is still much emphasis on the training sites. Nothing appears to be changing even under our new president. They seem to be "gung ho on the status quo".
